Our Princess 1st Birthday Party

The girls had a beautiful 1st birthday party. Many family members showed up to celebrate the anniversary of the most wonderful day in our lives. We are so blessed to have two perfect little miracles and this past year has been a dream come true.
Momo made this beautiful Princess Castle cake and the two "smash" tiara cakes. The girls were very lady like and daintily picked off some icing. They did not eat a lot, but got a taste of it.

Abigail and Emily received so many wonderful gifts. Thank you all for the toys, clothes, books, games, gift cards, and money.

Emily worked pretty hard at unwrapping their presents. Abigail preferred to play with the bows.

We all enjoyed the castle Jupiter Jump. Neither of the girls were able to stand and jump, but instead bounced while sitting down.

Zoo

Abigail and Emily went to the Tulsa Zoo for the first time over Spring Break. It was a beautiful day and the girls really enjoyed looking at the animals. Nana, Papa, Momo, Pa, Jordan, Donnie, and Alicia came with us. We tried the carousel first. Emily rode a Tiger with Daddy and Abigail sat on an Elephant with Mommy. Emily liked it at first, then it started to move. Abigail was a bit skeptical the whole time.

Jordan and Pa are teaching Emily that an owl says "Hooo".

They enjoyed watching the lizard run swiftly around it's cage.

Down below, there were two deer and a couple of turkeys.

We think this was Abigail's favorite. It was a swamp rabbit. She loves rabbits. She even tried to kiss it through the glass.

The petting zoo was a lot of fun. Emily preferred to just walk around and look at the animals up close. Abigail loved to pet the goats and did so with both hands at once.

Walking Progress

Emily has decided that she wants to walk everywhere. However, she has not quite mastered that skill yet. So, that leaves it up to Mommy or Daddy to hold her hand as she leads us around the house inspecting all the toys, pictures, windows, or whatever else her little eyes need to get a closer look at. She has already made a lot of progress towards walking independently. Just a few days ago we would have to hold both of her hands, but now she will only let us hold her right hand while she carries something in her left. She's already taken steps on her own, but can't get more than 4 at a time.

Emily has also gotten her two front teeth in. She had to work very hard for them. Hers bothered her a lot more than Abigail's did.

Do You Smell That?

When asked, "Do you smell that?", Emily will start sniffing the air. Then, she'll usually scrunch up her face indicating that whatever it is, it stinks! In this instance, it was sister's diaper change...ShoooWeee

Everybody Clean Up

I'm trying to teach to the girls to put their toys up after playing. Abigail seems to like cleaning up, but Emily would prefer to move on to something more exciting.

Popping Bubbles

Bubbles are a favorite of Emily and Abigail's. They could sit for hours trying to catch and pop them. Of course, Mommy and Daddy would get very light headed and probably pass out trying to blow enough to really entertain them, so we bought a bubble machine to help out.

A few things to notice in the pictures...First, Abigail's headband. She has decided that she likes to wear things on her head as well. These types of headbands are great for her hair since it is very fine and likes to stand straight up. Second, notice their shirts. As most of you know, Daddy is a HUGE UNC Tar Heels Basketball fan. This weekend was a big game against their rivals, Duke. UNC won the game, so Daddy had to have the girls wear their "UNC > Duke"(think math terms...> is greater than) shirts while their Pa and cousin, Jordan came to visit. They, unfortunately, are big Dookies. Momo, however, is logical and is a North Carolina fan.

Read to Me, Please.

Abigail loves being read to. She'll find a book she wants read to her, bring it to me, and if I'm sitting in the floor, she'll back herself up until she sits in my lap. Then we'll read the same book 5 or 6 times. Oh, and she has to be the one to turn the pages.
This weekend, she found some other people to read to her. Her cousin, Jordan and Pa got to snuggle in with her and read.

First Trip To The Library

Today we took our first trip to the library!!! Emily and Abigail spent time listening to Daddy read a new book, and then they browsed through the shelves. Abigail LOVED it and Emily was content to walk around, holding Mommy's hands, looking at all the resources available. Afterwards, we went to the park and feed the geese. Granddad met us there!

(Sorry the quality of the pictures is lacking. The batteries in our camera went out and we only had the camera on Daddy's phone)

At lunch, Abigail decided to try out her bib on her head. She liked it so much that she had to have Emily's "hat" too. If you'll notice they are not wearing their bibs around their necks. This is due to their ability to pull them over their heads in order to take them off.
