Dancing with Dora

Both girls have really gotten in to dancing. Their favorite song is "We Did It" which is played at the end of every episode of Dora the Explorer. Along with these moves, Abigail will squat and bounce, and Emily will sway back and forth if she is on her hands and knees.

Pearly Whites and Banana Hair

I was finally able to get some pictures of Abigail's teeth. The top teeth crack me up. Like I mentioned before, the two front teeth are coming in after the one just to the left. This was after breakfast that included bananas. We have been practicing "hair" and apparently she likes this one because she kept running her sticky banana hands all through it today. And it is not like she needs a lot of helping getting her hair to stand straight up anyway.

The Results Are In!

Trail 1: Toys in Emily's crib. Results: Abigail ended up having both blankets and 2 pacifiers. Emily had the book, mirror, and 1 pacifier. The star and 1 pacifier ended up on the outside of the cribs.

Trial 2: Toys in Abigail's crib. Results: Abigail kept everything in her crib. She did not pass one thing to her sister.

Winner: Abigail by a landslide.

Experiment..Vote Now

Okay, so I've decided to do a little experiment on my children...Is that bad?? They seem to really like to pass things back and forth between their cribs before they fall asleep during nap time. Want to give a guess who will end up with the most toys at the end of their nap? The first time things that can be passed between the slats will be put into Emily's bed. The second time, they will start out in Abigail's bed. Let's see who ends up with the most. You can cast your vote on the right. Check back on Monday and I'll have the results posted.

In the crib I put:
3 pacifiers
2 blankies
1 book
1 star
1 stuffed mirror
FYI: They usually don't sleep with all this stuff. It is being added for the sake of Science:)

Holding Hands

Mommy and Daddy love the fact that we can now hold hands with Abigail as she walks. She seems to like it most of the time, too. It is so sweet when she looks up as we walk hand in hand and smiles her semi-toothy smile at us. The first few times we did it, it brought tears to our eyes. We can't wait to have a daughter on each side. Emily is still not interested in practicing much. She has wobbly legs, but if she is not really paying attention, she can stand for long periods of time.

Lunch Time Games

Emily decided that lunch time was the perfect opportunity to play. Maybe her silliness was caused by her excitement over the veggies on her tray. Yes, she does actually love her vegetables, but isn't too fond of fruits. Weird, huh?

Emily's First Steps

Emily took her first steps last night!! She was practicing standing with Daddy when she just decided to walk toward him. Unfortunately, Mommy was busy picking up toys and missed it, but she did it again for me two tries later.

Abigail Walking

Abigail is now walking way more than she crawls. She'll take a spill and get back up and go again. She can even walk in a circle, around corners, and step over things.

Update

Well, several new things have been going on the the lives of our precious Emily and Abigail. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get pictures of some of them, so this post will only be text.
At 10 and 1/2 months old, Emily has finally gotten her first teeth. (I was beginning to think that she would be gumming her food forever.) The two bottom ones came in one day apart, Feb. 3rd and 4th. She will not let us look at them and we have to fight her for us to be able to even feel them. She has also entered that dreaded stage of undressing herself. She is beginning to stand on her own, but is still a little hesitant.
Abigail is officially walking. Just last night she decided that she would much rather walk everywhere. She still takes a spill every once in a while, but is making tremendous progress. She loves to walk while carrying toys or books. She can point to animal or people's noses when asked. We are going to start working on eyes now. She can also identify a dog, duck, and Dora in pictures. Her third tooth has come in, but it is not the usual 3rd tooth. It is the one just left of her front two teeth. I think the front two are not far behind.

Update on the Update (2/11/08 7:37 pm) I said we were beginning to teach Abigail "eyes" tonight and she has already mastered that one as well as "hair". She seems to have a wonderful memory and pretty good grasp of language.
Emily also tried to take a step tonight, but her toe got caught up on the carpet. She is showing a strong desire to walk. Maybe it is because she sees Abigail walking and it is motivating her.
